WELCOME TO THE INTERPRETER'S HOUSE..

and he would show him excellent things

DEDICATED TO THE BEST IN POETRY AND SHORT STORIES

'The Interpreter's House', which celebrated its tenth birthday in
February 2006, is looking for excellent poetry and short stories.
Over 500 writers have appeared in our pages, some very distinguished (Elizabeth Bartlett, Ruth Bidgood, Alan Brownjohn, Toby Litt, Sheenagh Pugh, Carole Satyamurti, Penelope Shuttle, R.S. Thomas) and some for the first time ever.

We appear in February, June and October and are associated
with the Bedford Open Poetry Competition.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the Interpreter's House Short Story Competition.

You can read the comments of our judge, Robert Barnard, here. Stories will appear on the website shortly, and will be published in the OCTOBER issue of the magazine.

Issue 38 is NOW AVAILABLE, featuring poetry by John Mole

Please note that the price of subscriptions has increased to £12.00, and the price of individual issues is now £4.50

The pieces in 'The Interpreter's House' are quite unusual, as
editor Merryn Williams looks for 'the union of simplicity and mystery which
makes writing memorable'. The first issue was interesting because of this
third dimension; the works mutate and change meanings so they are exciting to reread.
